Taking Care

Ladies and Gentlemen,

I just wanted to share a few things about taking care of yourself during training, especially as we build up to running 15 to 20 miles for our long runs.  I think I have mentioned it before, but our long runs are all about spending time on your legs.  Don't worry too much about pace, just get the mileage in.  Also, keep listening to your body.  Try and distinguish between feeling a little tired and actually hurting.  It may be good to work through the pain if you are a little tired, but if you are feeling sharp pains in concentrated areas be careful.

Also, make sure your shoes can sustain these long runs.  If you need to go ahead and buy new shoes you can and just work them into your long runs and keep using your others on short runs.  This way you can prolong the life of your shoes.

Check out www.runningwarehouse.com, they have great prices  Before you order talk to me, there may an opportunity to get you a discount.  The site already has the best deals I have found so far.  I got the Asics Gel Nimbus (usually $119 to $129) for $89 with the discount.  They also have free shipping and no tax.

Finally,  make sure you are replenishing after workouts so your body can recover.  You need cards, antioxidants, and proteins to rebuild and recover.  I take 2:1:1 which is a recovery powder you mix with milk or water.  It tastes great and does the job.

see you on the road,
Ace
